The sculpture originates from an endeavor to invent methods that make form. They must be simple, synergistic and expressive.

Currently these methods begin with areas of one layer of plywood or one piece of lumber. The flat material is angle-cut in a way resembling a contour map. Each piece becomes a template for the next, until the whole surface area is covered. The cut parts are rearranged or stacked vertically, (in original 2D- length and width position), becoming three-dimensional forms. Then glued, and often stained with pigment.

The images are those of nature and culture or their combination.
